From My Heart
We have made it into March, and hopefully things will begin to improve with the weather, as well as with the virus. I am looking forward to the day when we can have the choir, Sunday School, run the busses, and open the nurseries. Once more folks get vaccinated, we just might feel a little better about opening things up a little more. I went to get my first shot about a week and a half ago, and I go back for the second shot on March 22. Several people said, “Oh, I wouldn't take the vaccine - it hasn't been sufficiently tested.” Well, my cardiologist and my family doctor both recommended I take it - so I signed up. If I start growing a third eye, or a sixth finger, then I will start to panic…but I think having the vaccine will help - not hurt. I guess time will tell.
A couple of Sundays ago, I spoke from the Prophet Joel, where in the first chapter he called the people to what he called, “a solemn assembly.” In the second chapter, Joel speaks of the day when the Lord Jesus comes back to this earth to fight the Battle of Armageddon at Christ's Second Coming. Oh, what a glorious day this will be! Those of us who know the Lord Jesus as savior, will come back with Him, and will fight along side of Him, as He sweeps upon the nations of the Middle East to battle against the Antichrist.
In chapter 2:7, Joel says we will run like “mighty men.” Now, you might be wondering how that is going to possibly happen with the poor old worn-out knees and legs you are dealing with now! But, keep in mind that when Jesus comes first at the rapture of the Church, we are going to be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye! It is going to be so wonderful to get a new body from the Lord.
I think it is quite expressive when Joel says in v. 4, “The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses, and as horsemen, so shall they run.” I can picture Joel standing in Jerusalem and looking southward, and God giving him the vision of this 2nd chapter. I can see Joel looking up at the southern sky and seeing the Lord Jesus coming, leading a massive army of the redeemed….and seeing millions of horses and each of us sitting upon a horse.
I then see Joel's face, as he watches each of us coming into the city of Jerusalem. He sees us able to (v. 7) climb a wall, get wounded but it not hurt us at all (v. 8), run all over the city and jump from house to house! Joel surely knew the “feelings of his infirmities,” and no doubt was so excited to see how we are going to be so able to move, to jump, to climb, and to fight for the Lord. Can you see in your mind's eye the wonderful gleam and look of excitement Joel experienced as he saw these things?
Well, these are the things we have to look forward to one of these days. Our days of being bound to this world with all its limitations is one day going to end, and we going to be able to do some remarkable things. I am sure excited about His coming. Hopefully, His coming is soon!
