THANK YOU: Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible love and generosity that has been shown to us over the past several months. With grateful hearts, The Skidmore Family (Please see the full letter posted on the bulletin board)

From My Heart
This evening, after the 6:00 p.m. service, we will be having Hoffman’s ice cream and a time of fellowship as a church family. I hope everyone will stick around and get in on the best ice cream in the county. We have a great number of flavors, and you are welcome to eat as much as you can handle - until it is all gone! This is a great opportunity to bring someone to church with you this evening, and you can tell them you are taking them to Hoffman’s after church.
I never cease to be amazed at the understanding of people. Last Monday evening was game 4 in the NBA Championship Series. The series is between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks had won something like 13 straight games and could have clinched the NBA title if they had won on Monday night in front of Knicks fans at Madison Square Garden. So…the “Hate Trump” politicians from N.Y. and a large number of sports media personalities went on TV all last Monday, ranting about how President Trump showing up for the game would “jinx” the Knicks! They went on and on, being completely disrespectful to President Trump!
I sat and watched them acting like little school children and thought to myself, “…and you are making decisions about the welfare of our nation in Congress??? You actually believe that one man’s presence in a crowd of almost 20 thousand spectators is why the Knicks lost game 4?” As I listened to them almost threaten Donald Trump for showing up, I began to pray and ask the Lord to let the Knicks lose!!! I have not watched a single game and could care less who wins the title! Now, if President Trump’s presence at the game can break the win streak, then I can claim that my lone prayer was answered by the Lord, and that little prayer is what forced a game 5. Again, I did not watch the game last Monday evening (I could care less). Instead, I watched the Orioles lose another one! All the praying in the world doesn’t seem to help our Orioles!
I really don’t think the Lord cares who wins a basketball game, or a football game, or any other sporting event. Sports are for entertainment and often are a distraction from a world in chaos. However, in my personal opinion, sports have become the tail that wags the dog. College kids are becoming multi-millionaires before ever attending a single class in school. Paying athletes in college is going way over a boundary, and it seems there is no end to it! Sports gambling is one of the biggest industries in America, and even college athletes are gambling on their own teams! Like everything the world gets its hands on, they are ruining sports at every turn.
Have a great day!
