From My Heart

Dear Church family, the only thing Karen and I can say is, “WOW! Thank you so very much for last week, and the celebration of 30 years!” We simply do not have the words to express the appreciation in our hearts for everything you did! It was beyond anything you folks have ever done for us - and there have been many wonderful things you have done for us through the years! My heart is so filled with gratitude, and I was so thrilled with everything that transpired. Thank you for all the cards and the sweet and kind comments! I read every card and every note that was included in it. Thank you for the gift cards, the monetary gifts, and for all the well-wishes. All I kept thinking this week was: “To God be the Glory, great things He hath done.” The Lord has been so good to all of us, and we sure need to give the Lord the glory for this ministry.

Thank you for inviting all the wonderful guests who came to help us celebrate. Pastor Mark Campbell spoke at the banquet on Saturday evening, and his message was so good! Dr. Smith’s message on Sunday morning was right on target, and Dr Rossi's on Sunday evening was the whipped cream topping on the day! It was also good to have Pastor Sterling Walsh, Fran Jones, Michelle Staner, and Pastor Dick Fenton here to sing for us! Dr. Smith was so thrilled with everything that he was in tears, thanking me for allowing him to be a part of the celebration. He and I are very close friends, and we talk almost every week, and not once have we ever had a problem in these 30 years. I admire him and thank the Lord for the way He brought us together that day in Jacksonville, FL., about 34 years ago.

So, thank you, Church! Of all the preachers in America, the Lord chose me to come and fill the gap when Dr. Smith resigned and went to the Sword of the Lord. But wait a second, you folks had to be patient and had to accept us - and you did! I have 30 years in as Pastor, but you folks have 30 years of allowing me to be your Pastor. I think you are to be more commended than me!!! We seem to make a good team, and it is so good to keep pressing on for the cause of Christ.

Today, we celebrate our Veterans and thank all of you who served in our Armed Forces and who had a part in making and keeping America “the Land of the free, and the home of the brave.” Let’s thank God for our wonderful nation and pray that the Lord will keep His protective Hand upon our people.

 Pastor Norris & Karen
